Changeover 2023 Heralds New Opportunities to Create Hope in the World
In a night that will be long remembered, significant club achievements over the past year were celebrated, a new President and an incoming board welcomed, and the contributions of some outstanding Rotarians recognised. PP Thelma Huchison was presented with a Royce Abbey Award, only the third such award in the club's history, while PP Carol Benson, PP Dr Mark Ellis AM, David Fallick, Geoffrey Widmer and Helen Worladge OAM, Director and Program Manager at the Education CHANCES Foundation, each received a Paul Harris Fellow Recognition. Congratulating outgoing President Teresa Liu on a year of significant achievement, incoming President Mark Howlett signalled a continuation of the growth of the club in the year ahead, in terms of membership numbers, community projects and member engagement and satisfaction. A re-energised club, ready to pick up the challenge to Create Hope in the World. To see all the photos from Changeover, click on 'Read more...' below.

Geoff and Helena Stir the Pot at Cooking Classes for the Salvation Army
Helena Wimpole and Geoff Widmer recently completed a block of six cooking lessons for clients of the Salvation Army. These were conducted at weekly intervals and were a great success. Each lesson, including consumption of the delicious meal lasted for about 2 hours. The practical experience and social interaction were greatly appreciated by the attendees. (See earlier story in The Glenferrie Rotarian,May 8th 2023)

We have been asked to present a further set of six lessons commencing on Wednesday 16th August. It would marvellous if any other Club Members would be available to provide their culinary expertise. Helena and Geoff would be happy to help with some introductory guidance.  Please contact Helena, Geoff of myself if you would like to be involved
District 9800 Welcomes a New District Governor
Rotary District 9800 welcomed a new District Governor at the District Changeover luncheon at Hyatt Place, Essendon Fields on Saturday January 24th. Outgoing DG Amanda Wendt, one of the youngest DGs in Rotary International. concluded a stellar year as DG, which included hosting the Rotary International Convention in Melbourne in May,  by handing over the chain of office to incoming DG Ron Payne. Ron, a member of the Rotary Club of Eaglehawk, is a well-known and popular Rotarian who will build upon the momentum of recent years with an agenda of membership growth and engagement. Congratulations to DGE Ron Payne and a very big thank you to DG Amanda Wendt, for a year of achievement in which the focus of Rotary was directed firmly towards service, and the profile of Rotary was greatly enhanced.

Did you know that you can register for a club meeting directly through the ClubRunner App?
By now Glenferrie Rotarians are very familiar with the club's administration and communication application, ClubRunner, but few may be fully aware of just how powerful the ClubRunner app can be. The ClubRunner app on your mobile phone replaces the old, printed Club Handbook, and the District Handbook has gone the way of the dodo as well. From the ClubRunner app you can phone, text or email a club member, or a member of any club in District 9800, and read club stories long before they appear in the Bulletin. That you already know.

But did you know that you can register for (or decline i.e. register an apology for) a club meeting or event directly from your ClubRunner app? No need to wait for Joanne's prompt, or even open up the club website to book. Now you can do it via your ClubRunner app in the blink of an eye. To find out how, click on 'Read more..."
