In a night that will be long remembered, significant club achievements over the past year were celebrated, a new President and an incoming board welcomed, and the contributions of some outstanding Rotarians recognised. PP Thelma Huchison was presented with a Royce Abbey Award, only the third such award in the club's history, while PP Carol Benson, PP Dr Mark Ellis AM, David Fallick, Geoffrey Widmer and Helen Worladge OAM, Director and Program Manager at the Education CHANCES Foundation, each received a Paul Harris Fellow Recognition. Congratulating outgoing President Teresa Liu on a year of significant achievement, incoming President Mark Howlett signalled a continuation of the growth of the club in the year ahead, in terms of membership numbers, community projects and member engagement and satisfaction. A re-energised club, ready to pick up the challenge to Create Hope in the World. To see all the photos from Changeover, click on 'Read more...' below.

What fun it was at Changeover 2023! From left, Angela Gao, MC PP Charles Tran, Jack Gao, President Teresa Liu, President-elect Mark Howlett and Donna, and special guests Member for Hawthorn John Pesutto and Mayor of Boroondara, Cr Felicity Sinfield. Ready to 'Create Hope in the World'.

In addition to those club sponsored activities, President Teresa made special mention of some dedicated Rotarians committed to doing good in the world: Helena Wimpole and Geoff
Widmer conducting cooking classes for single men at the Salvos in Camberwell; Chris Raw, Kay Widmer and Wendy Cross provide support for Power Assist Basketball. President Teresa also welcomed our Global Grant Scholar, Hikaro Sato, in Australia from Japan to study Public Health Administration at the Australian Catholic University, under a scholarship provided by The Rotary Foundation.

President Teresa acknowledged the continued contribution of Glenferrie Rotarians to Rotary beyond the club. Two past presidents will step up for District roles in 2023-24, Charles Tran will be the Assistant Governor for Eastside Cluster; Mark Ellis will be Assistant Governor for Heritage Cluster, Thelma Huchison will take on the role of Chair of the District 9800 Foundation Stewardship Committee, Catherine Eagleson will be D9800 Secretary for Australian Rotary Health, Ian Salek and Charles Tran will continue as hosts of the Rotary Radio Show on 94.1FM, Cheryl Pisterman will provide support to the District 9800 Public Relations team, and Richard Blakeman will embark on his 5th year as Chair of the District 9800 Humanitarian Grants Committee. Truly kicking above our weight.
Incoming President Mark Howlett thanked President Teresa for a year of outstanding personal commitment. In particular her care for individual members in need. President Teresa
has raised the bar in leadership for the club, and substantially strengthened the Rotary Club of Glenferrie.

What a year it's been! And what a year it promises to be, as we join together with renewed commitment to Create Hope in the World.
ps. With considerable thanks to Lynette Spencer who decorated the Stadium Room at Kooyong with her usual style and panache.
