Presidential Musings
George Orwell once stated – In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”
It is with great sadness we observe the bullying of one nation to another nation. Misinformation and inappropriate excuses abound. In the bible of karate “The Bubishi” my favourite quote is that “Delay is the best remedy for Anger” so I hope that the united world can come up with inducements to end this Ukrainian invasion. Rotarians have an avenue to be involved via the email I recently sent to all from Gabriel Hau, RI District 9800 Peace building Committee Chair.

Thanks to those Directors who were able to give a brief outline of their portfolios at last Tuesday’s meeting. Occasionally it is good to sit back and find out what is going on within our own club. As President I get to oversee all the activities. Hopefully, newcomers can get an idea of where they want to be involved. Being involved increases the satisfaction of being a RC Glenferrie member.

Clean Up Australia Day - 6th March 2022
As in previous years the Rotary Club of Glenferrie has registered a Clean Up site entitled, "Patterson Reserve and surrounding streets". The plan is to gather at 9.30am at the Rotary container followed by 2-3 hours of collecting rubbish dumped by our fellow citizens: an illuminating experience! A BBQ and opportunity for a chat will follow at 12.00 - 12.30pm. Overall, I have found the last two events to be most enjoyable and worthwhile.

Gloves and graspers are provided. I suggest a hat, sun-screen, sturdy footwear and some water.

Please register ASAP so we can allocate duties.

A Walk in the Park - Parkinson's Victoria
This event to support Parkinson's Victoria will now be held in Federation Square on Sunday 27th March 2022. It had been cancelled on a number of occasions during the past two years of the pandemic. Our Club has actively supported this event during the past decade by running a BBQ in Federation Square. In essence we provide the people power with the BBQ, marquee and food being provided by Parkinson's Victoria. In the past it has been a busy and worthwhile occasion with three 2 hour shifts, each with 7 volunteers: so quite a commitment!

To volunteer for the Parkinson's Walk: Click here. It would be marvellous if members could set aside a couple of hours on the 27th March 2022.
