Education CHANCES Foundation (Michael Hills)
Thanks to the hard work of members assisting in running our first Saturday in the Month farmers market, we are now able to provide the Education CHANCES Foundation with around a further $20,000 towards scholarships the Foundation issues annually. They go to bright secondary and some tertiary students who live or study in Boroondara at a government secondary school or recognised tertiary level institutions. They come from a proven background of significant financial disadvantage. Scholarships are for one year at a time with a renewal for a further year dependent on maintaining their academic performance, and the families current level of financial disadvantage.

Our club has been helping to raise funds for the Foundation to be used for scholarships for the last decade and is now providing around 25% of the funds the Foundation needs annually. As such it is both the largest and longest provider of funds for the work of Education CHANCES. The extra $20,000 of funds is enough to finance 18 renewal awards or 12 new awards or a mixture of both.

Michael Hills who is the secretary/treasurer of the Foundation, would like to pass on his thanks to the club's  members for their efforts. They are greatly appreciated.
