2. The key-safe actually contains a key card which unlocks the rear door of the newly renovated hall that is approached from the Salvation Army carpark off Athelstan Road. The entrance to the carpark is just before 4 Athelstan Road where we previously delivered the bread. The key-safe is on a down-pipe adjacent to a blue bin to the left of the door into the hall. See attached photos.

The Community Service and Youth Groups have again agreed to help support this program which provides a sporting outlet for individuals with a range of disabilities. It is not wheelchair basketball and our role is merely to collect player and spectator payments which cover the cost of basketballs and administration. All the staff, including umpires are voluntary and the competition has been going for more than twenty years. It arose out of an initiative of the Power House organization.
Our commitment is to provide two volunteers at the Methodist Ladies' College(MLC) Basketball courts in Kew on a Friday night, once a month, from 6.30PM for 2 hours. So, if you have a free Friday night please consider helping out. Whilst it may seem a trivial activity we do perform an important role and it provides the opportunity to "chew the fat" with a fellow Rotarian in between acting as a cashier.
(Volunteers enter MLC via the pedestrian gate in Fitzwilliam Street near its intersection with Selbourne Road.)

Need for Feed Australia is a project of the Lions Clubs of Australia. Founder Graham Cockerell is also the Coordinator of this major project, which has delivered stock fodder valued at over $30 million so far to struggling farmers in drought and flood affected areas. A Past District Governor of Lions Clubs Australia, Graham lost his father to farm related suicide when he was just eleven years old. This tragedy inspired him at around the time of the Millenium Drought, when both fires and drought were ravaging Victoria, to do something positive to help farmers facing hurdles that might otherwise overwhelm them. |

Topical in a year when the Australian of the Year, Katherine Bennel-Pegg, is a champion for girls studying STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), guest speakers Georgia Bianchin from Toorak College and Opal Scheele from St Catherine’s School, Toorak, will talk about their experience of the 2026 National Youth Science Forum (NYSF). In January 2026, Opal and Georgia attended the NYSF residential program at the University of Queensland. On and off campus, the forum is held to help students gain a broader understanding of the diverse study and career options available in STEM. Support for students at NYSF is a project of the Youth Service Committee of the Rotary Club of Glenferrie. |

RYLA and the UN Youth Program

Tonight we’ll hear from two impressive young people whose recent experiences—supported by Rotary—have taken them from leadership training in regional Victoria to international diplomacy in Europe. Harsha Sharma is a university student studying Engineering and Computer Science who recently attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp at Camp Getaway. He’ll share insights from the week-long program, which focuses on personal growth, leadership development and building a sense of community. Unfortunately Harsha informed us on 20/3/2026 that he would be unable to attend the Dinner Meeting on 24/3/2026 Ivy Sheng (16), a Year 10 student at Methodist Ladies' College, was one of just 16 students nationwide selected for UN Youth Australia’s 2026 Young Diplomats Tour. During the month-long program she travelled through Europe, meeting international organisations, political leaders and community groups while exploring key historic sites. |

Tony Coyle is a Boroondara resident of 26 years where he shares a house with his two grown-up kids. He is a retired engineer who has previously volunteered in junior football and Auskick. He enjoys playing squash and golf. Since joining Electrify Boroondara he has been helping with technical support and community outreach. He is on his own electrification journey and currently focused on improving the building shell and upgrading appliances. |
