President's Message

In my time with Rotary, I have listened to some wonderful “member behind the badge” presentations. We are all unique in our backgrounds and that is a great strength of the club. No matter what members have done or where they have lived etc., we are all interested and entertained to hear and see member’s life experiences. I would like to encourage all members that have not previously presented to make a date with the club service team led by Joanne for a Member behind the badge presentation.

Perhaps some of the longer serving members who gave their presentation a long time ago might also like to present again?

Guess Who Came to Dinner?

NANDO did !!

Many of our older members in the club will remember Nando De Olivero – Rotary Exchange Student from Brazil in 1991.

What a delight it was to catch up with Nando after 34 years.

The club had arranged for Nando to attend Xavier College during his year 11 stay in Australia.

In Memory of Terry Rolleston

Terry Rolleston is well known to a number of our club members. Terry had Parkinson’s disease & initiated the Clubs involvement in the Parkinsons' Walk, through manning the BBQ at Federation Square. I thought the older members might be interested to know Terrys 16-year-old grandson (Harry) performed a skydive at Noosa on 19th September, in honour of his Poppy. Through the skydive Harry raised $850 for Parkinson’s through a GoFundMe page. He’s sixteen and the love heart on the way down was for his late grandfather Terry. Sending best wishes to all.

Club Meeting Report 26th September - EndTrachoma -  Speaker Sandi Fulcher
At the RC Glenferrie weekly meeting, we were honoured to have Sandi Fulcher, the Project Administration Coordinator from EndTrachoma, talk about trachoma and Rotary’s efforts to end it. Sandi is a Rotary gem with a history of many roles within our District.

The aim of EndTrachoma is to prevent infectious diseases, like trachoma, by enabling communities to practice good hygiene. She pointed out that there are 1.9 million cases in the world, but Australia is the only high-income country where trachoma still remains endemic.

Mental First Aid
The District 9800 Australian Rotary Health Committee conducts Mental Health First Aid Courses several times a year with the objective of raising funds for Australian Rotary Health (ARH) initiatives. These courses are open to Rotarians and also the public.

Australian Rotary Health is one of the largest independent funders of mental health research in Australia and has a broad vision to improve the health and wellbeing of all Australians. ARH is made up of all Rotary Clubs within Australia and relies heavily on funding from clubs and individual Rotarians.

Mental Health First Aid Courses:
Objective: To raise awareness and also form a first response to emerging mental health problems and crises until professional assistance is sought.

The Happiness Hunter
The Happiness Hunter

Fiona Redding is a mindset coach, author, podcaster and motivational speaker, and is the Founder of The Happiness Hunter. In 2012 Fiona woke up with a burning question “How has this become my life?”. Fiona was 37, at home with two tiny kids, drinking every day, and was unfit and unhealthy. At this time, she realised that if she wanted her life to change, she had to own it – it was her that had to change. She decided to focus on one thing: Happiness. The seed of The Happiness Hunter was planted. She started her own coaching, consulting, and speaking business. She started meditating, stopped drinking, and started walking every day. Over the last ten years, Fiona’s life has completely transformed in every single area and through The Happiness Hunter, she teaches and shares everything she has learnt over that time.
