Bookings are now closed for the 51st Annual Changeover Meeting of the Rotary Club of Glenferrie, tomorrow night 6:30PM at the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club.
At our last dinner meeting we had an important presentation about the problem of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). This disorder has existed from time immemorial, however it is only in recent decades that it has become more understood. Many Rotarians listening to this talk were able to relate to this disorder as they have witnessed it in relatives, especially those who have been sent to fight in wars.
As my year as President comes to an end, I have been attending the Changeover events of other Rotary clubs in the City of Boroondara and have enjoyed them very much. I have met many Rotarians from other clubs throughout the year and have consequently extended my friendships in the sphere of Rotary and this has been a real bonus.

At our Rotary Glenferrie Meeting on Tuesday 9th of June we were addressed by Pam Young on the topic of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Pam’s husband was in the Australian Army and a Member of the SAS. He spent 20 years in the Army joining at 18. They were married for 15 years and shared many happy times, along with some challenges that she came to understand more clearly in later years. Pam never imagined she would go through separation and divorce, which she now understands was influenced by her husband’s post-traumatic stress. Since becoming a Member of the East Malvern RSL and working amongst many people with PTSD Pam now recognizes how it dramatically related back to her own life.

It is with a mixture of sadness and disbelief that we announce the demise of The Glenferrie Rotarian.
After 51 years of faithful service, the publication has been abruptly terminated following the discovery of a critical issue that makes further publication impossible.
Since its first edition, The Glenferrie Rotarian has dutifully reported on club activities, celebrated member achievements, shared knowledge, promoted fellowship, and occasionally reminded members that registrations close at midnight. From modest beginnings, but with considerable enthusiasm and pride, the Rotary Club of Glenferrie, working in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bo, Sierra Leone, planned and delivered a comprehensive two-year WASH program that is transforming the lives of children at the Aladura Primary School in Buedu.
The results are already becoming evident. Student enrolments continue to grow. The school buildings are being expanded. Most significantly, the Government of Sierra Leone has now thrown its support behind the school. But there was more to come. Click on 'Read more…'' to find out what!

The Camberwell Art Show is an annual event in the City of Boroondara and has become renowned throughout the Australian art community as a prestigious and quality exhibition. This year's event - the 61st Camberwell Art Show - is about to commence, on July 4th to be exact, and this year will be held at Carey Baptist Grammar School in Kew.

From Open Quadrangle to Premier Art Gallery: a Full Circle Moment
As a student who spent twelve formative years at Carey, I could never have imagined that the open quadrangle – once filled with the scent of the chemistry laboratory and the sounds of daily school life – would one day become a sophisticated contemporary gallery. Yet this July, that very space, now the Jeffrey O Thomas Quad, will host the sixty-first Camberwell Art Show, marking a remarkable convergence of tradition, community and excellence.
