The Board met for the last time this year. Many items were discussed, and decisions were made. I have found it beneficial to have the face to face meetings since I have been able to listen and engage with various members during our General Meetings. I also hope to get our Strategic Action Group going again to implement the Strategic Plan sorted out a year of two ago.
I acknowledge and thank Elizabeth Dumonic and the membership team for all their hard work. In the new year, we will have more inductions. There is great interest in our club, and it is important to present our club as progressive and dynamic.
The Rotary Foundation is Rotary's charity. A gift to the Rotary Foundation unleashes the global power of 1.2 million Rotarians in 36,000 clubs, making possible the delivery of service to communities throughout the world, promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, growing local economies, promoting the environment and working to end polio.
For the 13th consecutive year, Rotary Foundation has received the highest rating — four stars — from Charity Navigator, an independent evaluator of charities in the U.S, including an evaluation of 100% for Accountability and transparency.

With the end of 2021 fast approaching the Education CHANCES Foundation wishes to say thank you to the club for:
- Adding an extra market per month as from this February to bring in more revenue; - Club members putting in the extra volunteer hours needed to conduct the extra market days; - The significant increase in income the Foundation is receiving from club members extra efforts – approximately $20,000 per year; - Further cementing the club’s position as the major on-going contributor to the Foundation’s activities over the last 10+ years.
The Saturday 20 November's Farmers' Market saw a successful start to the sales of the famous Rotary Cakes and Puddings. Hawthorn Rotary David Pisterman and our treasurer Thelma Hutchison ensured that all visitors and stall holders learned of this quality product from Traditional Foods who have been supporting Rotary for many years.
Each month we get a report from Google Analytics on the number of visitors to our website. In November the club's website, rotaryglenferrie.org.au, attracted 783 unique users, up 32% on the month before. There were over 1,500 separate visits to the website, +39% on the previous month, with the average session lasting 4 minutes 17 seconds (+43.4%). The biggest event in November of course was the Yarra Bank Reserve Playground opening, which clearly achieved its objective of drawing attention to Rotary and to the club. Proof positive that good stories turn heads, so keep them coming!
For less than a cup of coffee a week, AUD100 will make a huge difference to our community and your donation will have a massive impact that will Do Good in the World.
Why should you donate to The Rotary Foundation?
It is our charity – your money is spent by Rotarians on Rotary projects here and around the world.
If your donation is to the Annual Fund, 50% of that comes back to District 9800 for clubs (including yours) to access for Rotary projects.
At around 9%, The Rotary Foundation has one of the lowest administration costs of any charity. It is not uncommon for other charities to have 30% or higher administration costs. Donating to The Rotary Foundation means a bigger bang for your buck.
We’re excited to gather again in-person so we can connect, share ideas, and strengthen our relationships in an atmosphere of friendship and learning. The 2022 Rotary International Convention 4-8 June in Houston, Texas, USA, offers that opportunity – and we remain optimistic that we’ll be there together 4-8 June 2022.
Significant savings if you sign up before 15th December.
