President's Message
Our esteemed secretary Geoff has circulated a members survey. Our last one was done about three years ago. I would ask all members to read it and respond. At the risk of beating a well-worn drum, it’s your club. If you think things are going well, please let us know. If you think things can be improved, again please let us have your suggestions.

Club Meeting Report April 29th - Visit to RIMERN
On 29th April, RCG members had an external excursion to the Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network (RIMERN) warehouse at 32-34 Lincoln Street in East Brunswick. About 20 members took the trek out to the RIMERN facility, to be hosted by Ros McMaster, the Warehouse Manager. RCG welcomed Brenan Rougder, a significant volunteer at RIMERN who our own RCG volunteers have had much interaction with during our monthly 2nd Monday work there. It was great to see him there. He joined us also at the Darebin RSL for dinner afterwards.

Rotarian Stars at MCC Croquet
Each year the MCC Croquet Club has a competition involving its newest Members. It is called the Noel Grant Trophy after a former President and Life Member of the club who received the French Legion D’Honneur for her work in Paris during the last years of WW2. Because the club had been closed for six months for significant lawn refurbishment in the second half of 2024, there was a backlog of people wanting to join the Club, eight of whom signed up for the competition.

Among those were Ros and Robert Winspear, and Robert won the final from Mark Eddelbuttel (see photo). Congratulations to Robert, who went through the competition without a loss.
PP Robert Winspear has won the coveted Noel Grant Trophy in his first tournament at the MCC Croquet Club in Hawthorn

Formation of a Rotary Club of Glenferrie Mahjong Club

I am in the process of forming a Mahjong Club within RCG and would welcome any interest members have in being part of this group. I have two mahjong sets (one from Maria Pantling), so we have capacity for up to eight to ten members to participate.  I used to play a lot  in my teens then family came along and no time…...but now in “ Life Transition,” I decided to restart but not sure of the finer rules now or how to score the winner! Let’s give it a go…...

Blast from the past!
The July 19th, 2016 edition of The Glenferrie Rotarian, reported that Club Changeover, chaired by PP Jeremy Romanes, had been a resounding success. President Carol Benson assumed the presidential mantle from PP Robert Winspear and awarded Honorary Membership to PP Terry Rolleston. PP Terry was responsible for the club's engagement with the annual Parkinson's Walk event. Outgoing President Robert awarded Paul Harris Fellow recognitions to three outstanding Rotarians, and one to a distinguished member of the local community.  Click on the bulletin image below to read the full bulletin from way back then:

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson went on a camping trip. After a good meal, they lay down for the night and went to sleep. Some hours later, Holmes awoke and nudged his faithful friend. Holmes said: "Watson, look up and tell me what you see".

Watson said: "I see a fantastic panorama of countless stars."

Holmes: "And what does that tell you?"

Watson pondered for a moment.....
