Anyone who cares to listen to my babbling on will be familiar with my words of wisdom “youth is wasted on the youth”- what would I do to go back in time with the wisdom of an elder! We owe it to our youth to assist them to develop good ideals and working principles. Rotary is committed to this ideal.
I want to thank all who attended the Rotary Conference in Albury. For those making the effort to get up to Albury were rewarded with lovely weather and great Fellowship. I particularly enjoyed our lazy breakfasts in the main street of Albury prior to the meetings commencements. The Friday night club dinner arranged by Cheryl was fun and we enjoyed having a club table on the Saturday night, to socialise with our Glenferrie Rotarians. I will definitely be going to future conferences.
Sue Burgess was invited to speak to the club about Anzac Day. She chose as her topic the ‘Relevance of Anzac Day to the youth of Australia today’
Sue gave a brief outline of the history of Anzac Day. It started in London in 1916 by returned soldiers to remember those who did not return from war. It had no funding but the originators just wanted to establish a commemorative day to remember. By 1918 it was established and by 1927 a public holiday was declared in every state. The Dawn Service started in 1930.
We are dedicated to enhancing your Rotary experience by supporting what is important to you, our members. You have consistently told us that you want Rotary to be a place that celebrates diversity, that fully represents our communities, and that offers all members equitable opportunities to thrive.
You also recognize that embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) will allow us to do more meaningful work while engaging with people who know they’ll be valued for the qualities that make them unique. These sentiments were reinforced last year by the more than 31,000 members around the world who responded to our first DEI survey.
To ensure that the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion are ingrained in everything we do, the RI Board of Directors, guided by the DEI Task Force, has strengthened our commitment to DEI and is taking action in response to the survey findings.

The club's signature event for 2022, the Lift the Lid Charity Golf Day on May 24th, is completely sold out. Prospective players who would like to have an opportunity to play this event at world famous Kingston Heath Golf Course may join a waitlist, which has now gone live, and will be offered a spot if cancellations are received by the cut-off date.
However Glenferrie Rotarians who would like to attend the club meeting on May 24th, which will be held at Kingston Heath Golf Course following the golf day, may still register for the meeting. Bookings are essential, as numbers are strictly limited. So don't wait any longer. Guest speakers will be Australian cricket legend Merv Hughes, who will be interviewed by TV star and MC Extraordinaire Gregory Ross, and Prof. Eoin Killackey of Melbourne University, speaking on the topic of Youth Mental Health.
Rotary Glenferrie is an active member of the RIMERN group ( Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network). RIMERN collects and distributes household goods ( bedding, tables, kitchenware, white goods, appliances) for individuals and families in need.
A critical need for RIMERN is to purchase a commercial Van to give them the capability and flexibility to collect households goods offered. They need to raise funds to buy the Commercial Van and have organised an online WINE FUND RAISER through an established “on-line” company called Prospect Wines, with the wines selected by Peter Fergusson whom many of you will know from his Fergusson Wines (Dixons Creek) days. Peter is still a wine consultant, so they have quality in mind here in selecting the wines for us.

ROTARIANS LIVE BY THE FOUR WAY TEST
Is it the Truth?
Is it Fair to all concerned?
Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships?
Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?
OUR VISION
“Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”
