Presidential Musings for the week

Rotary’s monthly theme is on water and sanitation.  So important in preventative medicine.

One of the original projects by our founding fathers was to erect toilets.  In 1907, the first community project was to establish “a public comfort stations” in Chicago near City Hall for men and women.  Paul Harris wrote that he was pressured by both the saloon keepers and lady's garment stores not to install such a convenience, since their establishments provided “comfort” but at a price of beer and garments!!  So much now has happened since then…..

In my international aid work, I have seen the importance of clean uncontaminated water and proper sanitation for a productive healthy life.  Something that we just take for granted.

Boroondara Farmers Market - March 6th 2021
A mild dry Saturday morning greeted Stallholders and Patrons with early temperatures around 14.0°c.  A sunny morning progressively developed with the temperature rising to 18.7 °c prior to the Market closing at 12:30pm.  There were 29 Stallholders attending, this time for our second ‘First Saturday of the Month’ Farmers Market.  Difficulty in getting Staff on the day prevented another three Stallholders from attending who had previously expressed their wish to do so.

It was pleasing and vital this time - vis à vis our initial ‘First Saturday of the Month’ Market’ - that we had every key area of produce covered by at least one vendor in a produce category such as red meat, pork, fish, cheese eggs, bread and vegetables.

International Fellowship of Motorcycling Rotarians

It was the Rotary Club of Loxton in South Australia that sponsored the formation of the International Fellowship of Motorcycling Rotarians in January 1992.  Coincidentally, at the same time, in at least two other countries (the US and Sweden) Rotarian motorcyclist enthusiasts were also planning to establish a similar Fellowship.  However, they decided to join forces when Rotary Loxton crossed the finish line first.

The Motorcycling Fellowship is one of only two Fellowships sponsored by Australian Rotarians; the other was the Rotary Fellowship of Antique, Classic and Historic Automobiles sponsored by the Rotary Club of Wagga Wagga.

I just wrote a book on reverse psychology. Do not read it.

What do you call when a cow spies on another? A steak out.

I got fired from the job in a bank. An old lady came in and asked me to check her balance, so I pushed her over.

Why do cow-milking stools have only 3 legs? Because the cow's got the udder.
