Presidential Musings for the Week

Rotary Theme  for the month - Fellowship

As the Rotary year is fast coming to a close, we are still under restrictions. We all get a chance in two week’s time to contemplate at the various changeovers on what a year which has been unparalleled in Rotary History.  I am so sorry that the 15th is again on Zoom. I am saving a fortune in dry cleaning.  I read in the local press that we are all dressing down and there is no need to dress up smartly anymore. Pity, since “clothes maketh the man” – However, an expensive suit would be wasted on me anyway!!  I tend to cheapen clothes when I wear them!

The new Rotary year will be interesting with my Leadership coming out from behind the electronic blanket and into the open face to face meetings that we are all longing for.

Club Signs Agreement with eWay
The club has signed a merchant agreement with eWay, a payment provider that  processes secure credit card payments for merchants. eWay has an existing agreement with ClubRunner, which means that members will now be able to book and pay for events online using the clubs' ClubRunner website, instead of using external ticket agencies such as TryBooking or Humanitix. Members are not charged a transaction fee for payments via eWay.

The new payment facility also means that when members are invoiced with membership dues etc. through their ClubRunner account, they will have the option to 'Pay Now', using the eWay link.

Invoices for membership dues to be issued later this month will have the new 'Pay now' link and, commencing with the club meeting on June 29th (assuming no lockdown), club meeting attendance will be booked and paid in advance via the club website, thanks to eWay.
The Bread Run Needs You!
The Salvation Army Bread Run urgently needs new volunteers for the current roster to take us from June 10th through to the end of July.

This project calls for two volunteers to go to Bakers Delight in Riversdale Road, Camberwell, collect unsold bread which is generously donated by Bakers Delight, and deliver it the Salvation Army Camberwell.

If you can help, please sign up on the Volunteer Signup List on the club website via this link:

If you are not a club member but would still like to help, please email project leader Chris Raw directly. Chris will be pleased to add your name to the list.
Register Now for a 2021 Rotary Foundation Grants Management Seminar
All club Avenue of Service directors are encouraged to attend one of two District Grants Management Seminars, scheduled for later this month. Foundation grants are an excellent way to secure extra funding for club service projects, either in Australia or overseas, and attendance at a seminar is a prerequisite for club qualification.

This year's Grant Seminars will be held online with a choice of two optional dates. Each session will run for 90 minutes.

For the club to qualify for a Rotary Foundation Grant in the 2021-2022 Rotary year, at least one club member must attend one of the two sessions.

Thursday June 17 at 7.30pm  or Sunday June 20 at 3.00pm

Please register via Trybooking link: www.trybooking.com/BRSND

The Rotary Foundation

Did you know that nearly 435,000 Rotarians donated to The Rotary Foundation last year? It’s largely because of their generosity that our Foundation can support hundreds of district grants and more than a thousand global grants every year.

What happens when you give to the Foundation? Your gift is transformed into projects that:

  • Promote peace and provide clean water and sanitation in Papua New Guinea

  • Keep students in school in Tanzania

  • Help mothers and children get healthy food in Guatemala
