President's Message
The older I get, the faster the years seem to go by. It’s amazing to me that I have been President for nearly 5 months. It’s gone by in the blink of an eye. One of the main reasons I suspect is that we are a busy and active Club with many projects. Also, we do pretty well on the fellowship side.

A function coming up on 22 November is the Sumba Eye Project function. This function will combine the best of both worlds with the intention to raise money for the SEP with plenty of auction both loud and silent. It is also a time for fellowship with friends and family.

Club Meeting Report - 12th November - Grant Hocking
Grant Hocking addressed our meeting and described the role of the Rotary Foundation, and particularly its importance in funding projects globally and within Australia. Grant has been a Rotarian for 20 years. He is currently the Chairman of the Rotary Foundation for District 9800. He has previously been a club president twice and a past District Governor.

The mission statement of The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace, by providing quality education, improving the environment and alleviating poverty. TRF of D9800 is overseen by a Board of 20 individuals with Grant as chairman. The Board also includes Glenferrie Rotarians Thelma Hutchison and Richard Blakeman.

More from President Peter Moore
As you are aware, the Christmas function has been changed to 17th December 2024 from 10 December 2024. We will not be having a meeting on 10 December meaning that the Christmas function will be the last meeting for the year.

The first meeting in 2025 will be the now traditional BBQ and catch up at Yarra Park, details of which will be circulated shortly. I will endeavour to arrange a catch-up President's lunch in December at the usual venue of the Glenferrie Hotel, subject to venue availability in December, and will be in touch soon about this.

As there is a lot going on this November and the Calendar is a bit crowded for me both Rotary wise and personally, I am not arranging a lunch for November.
