Presidential Musings
I had great pleasure to induct Joanne Shentu and Meera Ramachandran into our Rotary Club Of Glenferrie Family on last Tuesday night. The occasion was probably even more momentous as it was International Women’s Day, and our club is slowly climbing to a healthy proportion of women in our ranks. My greatest worry is that we must actively get all new members involved in projects. So, I am excited that Amelia Anderson has agreed to join the committee for the Afghan music night. I want to encourage all newcomers to get out of their comfort zones and join in the committees. Events are evolving as we come out of the cloud of COVID isolations. One thing I learnt in life is that you cannot stand back and wait to be invited. You will always be a wall flower. So be bold and approach the directors saying, “I want to be involved”.

The women members and guests at the meeting on March 8th were led in a toast to International Women's Day 2022 by club director Elizabeth Dumonic (far right). The assembly demonstrated not only the strength of the club's female membership, but the valuable community contribution of women through Rotary, and the important leadership roles that women take in modern Rotary. Here's cheers everyone!

Clean Up Australia Day - 6th March 2022
A group of 11 Glenferrie Rotarians along with guests, Ros Winspear and Melanie Clarke gathered in Patterson Reserve during the gloomy morning last Sunday. It was great to have our current president, Mark Ellis along with four previous presidents, Thelma Hutchison, Don Heath, Ian Salek and Rob Winspear in attendance.

Carol Benson, Tim Gale and Andrea Kimler together with new members, Garfield Lee and Paul Shekleton completed the gathering and everyone set off in various directions armed with graspers and a large bag. More than 20 bags of rubbish were collected along with some dumped steelwork and three supermarket trolleys. Overall, it was an excellent two hour's work and we then enjoyed a glass of wine, conversation and a wonderful BBQ prepared by Libby Marshall and Caralyn Shekleton. Thanks again for the excellent work of all participants.

A Walk in the Park - Parkinson's Victoria
This event to support Parkinson's Victoria will now be held in Federation Square on Sunday 27th March 2022. It had been cancelled on a number of occasions during the past two years of the pandemic. Our Club has actively supported this event during the past decade by running a BBQ in Federation Square. In essence we provide the people power with the BBQ, marquee and food being provided by Parkinson's Victoria.mIn the past it has been a busy and a worthwhile occasion with three 2 hour shifts, each with 7 volunteers: so quite a commitment!

To volunteer for the Parkinson's Walk: Click here. It would be marvellous if members could set aside a couple of hours on the 27th March 2022.

RIMERN Wine Fundraiser: Purchase a Commercial Van for Collection Operations
Rotary Glenferrie is an active member of the RIMERN group ( Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network). RIMERN collects and distributes household goods ( bedding, tables, kitchenware, white goods, appliances) for individuals and families in need.

A critical need for RIMERN is to purchase a commercial Van to give them the capability and flexibility to collect households goods offered. They need to raise funds to buy the Commercial Van and have organised an online WINE FUND RAISER through an established “on-line” company called Prospect Wines with the  wines selected by Peter Fergusson whom many of you will know from his Fergusson Wines (Dixons Creek) days. Peter is still a wine  consultant, so they have quality in mind here in selecting the wines for us.
