President's Message
Dear Members, 
 
The annual Rotary District Training Assembly held today, 24 May 2020 has never been so well attended - over 350 participants, all using zoom.  Rotarians have embraced the technology and District used the platform effectively to deliver a Plenary session for everyone, followed by breakout rooms where smaller numbers were grouped according to positions and/or avenues of service.   
 
It was fantastic to see so many of our members in attendance.    There was a range of presentations including an introduction and address from Philip Archer, District 9800 Governor Elect.   Hugh Bucknall spoke about the importance of celebrating 100 years of Rotary in Australia and New Zealand in 2021.   Clubs are being encouraged to get involved with a project...….

Club's New Planning Process Underway
The Strategic Action Group (known affectionately as the SAG), comprising the club's President, President Elect and President Elect Nominee, met recently with corporate planner, and current President of the Rotary Club of Melbourne Central Warwick Cavell, to map out the approach to renewing the club's strategic plan for the next three years. With an emphasis on membership growth, the process will kick off with a special session for all members at the club meeting on Tuesday June 9th, via Zoom.

Farmers Market to Re-open May 30th
For those of you looking forward to another Saturday morning sleep-in courtesy of the overworked coronavirus we have some extra good news. The Boroondara Farmers Market is back on at Patterson Reserve Hawthorn East, starting Saturday May 30th. The Market will re-open with some special rules and regulations, of course, to protect patrons, stallholders and volunteers in the current health emergency.

District Governor Elect Philip Archer introduced his incoming District 9800 Leadership team for 2020-2021 in the first ever District Assembly via Zoom. DGE Philip has assembled an impressive team to take the District forward into Rotary's Centennial Year Down Under.
