Dear Members,

The annual Rotary District Training Assembly held today, 24 May 2020 has never been so well attended - over 350 participants, all using zoom.  Rotarians have embraced the technology and District used the platform effectively to deliver a Plenary session for everyone, followed by breakout rooms where smaller numbers were grouped according to positions and/or avenues of service.

It was fantastic to see so many of our members in attendance.    There was a range of presentations including an introduction and address from Philip Archer, District 9800 Governor Elect.   Hugh Bucknall spoke about the importance of celebrating 100 years of Rotary in Australia and New Zealand in 2021.   Clubs are being encouraged to get involved with a project...….
….And there's more:

Susan Vincent from the Rotary Club of Prahran spoke about the importance of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to our club membership and in program design and delivery.  The District Environment and Sustainability group will take more prominence next year and all clubs are encouraged to nominate a member to join this committee.  Julie Mason spoke about the importance of developing relationships with schools and using programs such as Earlyact and Interact as a pathway for early engagement with young people about the work and ideals of Rotary.

Back at our Club, meetings on zoom over the last couple of months have been consistently well supported and for the next few weeks there will be plenty of variety coming your way.  On Tuesday night Mark Howlett will be our guest speaker.   Then on June 9 we look at the club's strategic plan 2017-2020 - how well did we go with the existing one, and how do we see 2021 - 2023, what do we want our goals to be, what do we want to add, delete or change.   We will have an experienced facilitator guiding us through the session in an interactive and rewarding session.     Changeover will be on June 16 and it's important that you register your attendance so that the relevant zoom link can be forwarded to you.   Don't miss this night as we hand on the chain of office to Mark Ellis, our President Elect.

Stay well.

Warm regards,
Thelma
