The Strategic Action Group (known affectionately as the SAG), comprising the club's President, President Elect and President Elect Nominee, met recently with corporate planner, and current President of the Rotary Club of Melbourne Central Warwick Cavell, to map out the approach to renewing the club's strategic plan for the next three years. With an emphasis on membership growth, the process will kick off with a special session for all members at the club meeting on Tuesday June 9th, via Zoom.
Warwick Cavell has led the strategic planning process for a number of clubs and for District 9800 and, as General Manager and Consulting Director for The Marketing Network is a professional corporate planner. Warwick is a Fellow of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

The group reviewed with Warwick the Strategic Plan developed three years ago by the club, on which he complemented the club. The Club has been following the plan defined during those workshops with considerable success, priming the next three year period to build upon those achievements.

Step 1 will be the club information session on June 9th, during which the simple methodology applied by Warwick will be explained. Following the session on June 9th members will be asked a series of questions about their view of the club currently and their hopes for it for the future.

Step 2 will be a workshop format two weeks later, on Tuesday June 30th, when we will review the input following Step 1 and break into groups via Zoom to work on defined areas of the plan.

Step 3 will involve the SAG working together with Warwick to distill the output from the workshop into a cohesive proposal.

Step 4 will be a presentation to members at the meeting on July 21st, to review and confirm the plan for our club for the next three years.

But planning is not enough on its own of course. It requires the input of all members to be relevant and the support of all members to be effective. The success of the last strategic plan for the club bodes well for this updated version.
