Eight Rotarians were presented with Paul Harris Fellow recognitions at Changeover on June 23rd, testimony to the broad range of commitment to the ideals of Rotary within the club. The presentations were made by President Helena Wimpole, assisted by District Governor Nominee Claire Davison. The presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow recognition, one of the highest awards within Rotary, is The Rotary Foundation's way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs.
The presentation of a Paul Harris Fellow recognition, one of the highest awards within Rotary, is The Rotary Foundation's way of expressing its appreciation for a substantial contribution to its humanitarian and educational programs. It is named for our founder, Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who started Rotary International with three business associates in 1905. As a result of financial contributions made over time by the Rotary Club of Glenferrie, the club is authorised to assign PHF recognitions as a tribute to a person whose contribution to the fundraising or service projects of the club, or whose contribution to the community at large, demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of The Rotary Foundation. Six of the PHF recognitions at Changeover were such club awards.
The following Paul Harris Fellow recognitions were awarded by The Rotary Foundation in appreciation for generous contributions to the humanitarian and educational programs supported by The Rotary Foundation:
Geoffrey Widmer - PHF+5 sapphires
Jennifer deVos - PHF+4 sapphires
The club assigned the following PHF recognitions to club members as a tribute for their significant contribution to the fundraising and service projects of the club, and to the objectives of The Rotary Foundation:
Isaiah Lahai - PHF. Isaiah has been the inspiration and guide behind the club's two successful projects in Sierra Leone.
Garfield Lee - PHF. Garfield has, and continues to be, an enthusiastic and dedicated contributor to the work of the Farmers Market Committee.
Simon Messenger - PHF. Simon's contribution to the Farmers Market has been consistently outstanding.
Alex Marshall - PHF+1 sapphire. Alex's work as Club Service Director, often out of sight, has been critical to the smooth running of the club and to member experience.
Maria Pantling - PHF+1 sapphire. Maria's energy knows no bounds. She brought to the club a number of garden renovation projects and has been a driving force behind their success.
Paul Shekleton - PHF+1 sapphire. Paul's considerable commitment to the Farmers Market has been a key ingredient to the ongoing success of the market. Paul has also served as a valued member of the International Service Committee and, as club Almoner, where he has always been keen to support members whenever needed.
Each of the awardees share a golden quality: a ready willingness to volunteer when the calls goes out.
