G’Day to all and another week of cabin fever.  One bright spark in the news issued a statement that it is a great time to get to know your house and home.  However, some poor individuals get to see 4 walls only.  Our dog has had the best walks in his long life.  Old Max is still keen, and we haven’t had to coax him outside.  Maybe he has cabin fever also!!

The board met last week.  The new Rotary Constitution and Bylaws were agreed upon.  We will present them in a Special General Meeting via zoom on Sept 22nd.  Peter Moore will be sending them out well over the 21 days’ notice, so have a look.  He will explain them to all on the night.  The new Strategic Plan, which the Strategic Action Group under Thelma’s guidance, will be presented to the club at a General zoom meeting 25th August.

I do appreciate seeing all the member’s faces coming up on my computer screen.  My ego tells me that you are all coming to see me BUT realistically it is the great club program set up by David Fallick and John Hudson, which is driving the interest.  A good example is the last meeting with John Deeks.  David certainly has some great friends and we are all the beneficiaries.  Read this Bulletin to be updated.  There are some great speakers to come.

Rotary will be introducing a 7th area of focus – The Environment.  This will be official after July next year but why wait when this generates emotions and interest.  We thank our member and resident vet Dr Anrea Kimler for agreeing to chair this area.  She will be presenting in an upcoming meeting soon.  Please get in touch with her as she will eventually form a committee.

Finally, I am conscious that we need opportunities for more Fellowship.  I am aware that some club members have their own private chats.  I encourage people to be in touch with other members.  One initiative is to try a purely fellowship zoom night on the third Tuesday of the month.  Hence the “Wine and Cheese night” scheduled for August 18th at the usual time 7.15 pm.  One advantage is your wine and cheese can be top end stuff – and you don’t have to share BUT I want all of you to share your thoughts on the night.  We are working on break out groups randomly in that meeting.  Also, rather than a “Member behind the Badge” – We can have a fashion statement with “Members behind the Mask”!  I would like this meeting format to be a regular event on our lockdown circuit and going to about 8.30 pm.

As promised, I have received a document about the Rotary Youth Declaration Form.  In this Bulletin, is the link to it in our Club Runner.  I am hopeful that it addresses some people’s anxieties over the problem and we can be eventually 100% compliant.  I can then turn my attention to other issues .

Well that’s all folks.  Keep well.  I am seeing a lot of dry eyes and styes coming from the dry indoor environment.  Also, the masks are great in pumping “muck” into your eyes.  Please obey the lockdown rules.  This is a great example of how the community can help itself.  We are Rotarians and need to set the good example to all.
