“In the dead of the night amidst all the confusion on viral and virtual, the Pres tentatively punched out his thoughts on the week that we had……….” Well, that is enough for my creative writing. During the week we were lucky to have Jeanette Leigh, the Networker editor, conduct a creative writing workshop on Zoom for Rotarians. You must realise that as a science background educated chap, much of any creativity has been drummed out of me to allow the humanity buff’s minds to wander. So welcome to a further lockdown.
Naturally this implies that we are stuck in virtual meetings for some time now. Our Club service group is active in presenting interesting meeting material and I look forward to hearing from Alex Marshall’s members behind the badge presentation.
The Strategic Action Group (SAG) has met (Wow – in person!!!, thanks to the generosity of Teresa) before the new lockdown and we were able to discuss with Warwick Cavell’s assistance the various issues brought up by the club members, whom attended the zoom strategic planning meeting on July 23. We plan to present the new series of goals for the next 3 years in one of our August meetings.
The new Rotary Constitution to be adopted in our modified version is still to be digested by our Board and hopefully in August we can present this to all the members
Again – It will not go away but we need to have a 100% adherence to signing the Rotary Volunteer Information and Declaration Form. Please get on and read the Rotary Code of Conduct, complete the Declaration Form and email it to the Club Protection Officer Richard Blakeman. It is a requirement for our Rotary Insurance that there is a 100% participation. One of the three referees can be a Rotarian, so one down and 2 to get. It will get District off my back and we can ensure that the club is covered by insurance for our works. Richard, our protection officer informs me that we 100% compliant on the Working with Children registration, so thanks you so much. If you are in any doubt about whether you have already signed the forms, please contact Richard who has the records.
With now having to wear masks it is amusing to see all my patients whining about fogged up glasses and inconvenience after a lifetime of wearing surgical masks myself. Robbers wear masks to hide their identity so a new problem for me is calling patients, who just look at you as if I know who they are!!
