Currently, Mark Ellis is in Sumba with the Sumba Eye Program. The trip includes providing supervision in surgery and within the clinic. Mark has taken trips to Sumba over many years. It has been a wonderful endeavour and we recognise his work and the efforts of his team.
On the International theme - at our recent dinner meeting, we had Amelia Anderson talk about our club’s water storage and reticulation project conducted at Aladura Primary School in Bueda Sierra Leone, working in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bo. Another project in the same area is being investigated.
Men’s Cooking Classes at Camberwell Salvation Army recommenced on Wednesdays. This is just one of the projects we run in conjunction the Camberwell Salvation Army. In recognition of this Rotary Club of Glenferrie (RCG) was invited to a Special Volunteer Appreciation Day, where other volunteers and RCG members enjoyed a lovely meal. RCG was acknowledged with a message of thanks for all the work we have done and are doing with the Salvation Army.
The club is organising Fellowship & Fundraising activities. It would be great to have more people on our sub-committees. If you are interested, please contact me, Mark Howlett or Maria Pantling. Thanks to the Club Forum we have lots of ideas.
Doggy Day at the Boroondara Farmers Market had a huge turnout with 1,170 patrons & lots of dogs attending. Weather was perfect.
