If there can be any benefit at all from being locked down and locked in, it is that it provides the opportunity to get on and do stuff that needs doing at home. And so it is for the club Board, which is currently conducting a review of the Club's constitution and by-laws. The review is the first such review in seven years and is being undertaken by a Board sub-committee led by Club Secretary Peter Moore.
The review is taking place against a background of changing Rotary International requirements of Rotary clubs, seeking to build greater flexibility into the ways in which clubs operate. The continued relevance of Rotary depends upon the willingness to adapt to changing circumstances, and to design operations and programs that appeal to people in mid-career. Changes in the structures of membership, meeting types and times, club structures and the kind or projects that are undertaken are all on the table.
The sub-committee will report its recommendations to the full Board at the Board Meeting on August 11th, 2020. The final Board approved draft of the new Constitution and By-Laws will be tabled at a Special General Meeting of club members on Tuesday September 22nd, via Zoom.
