Presidential Musings for the Week

“Went to a garden party to reminisce with my old friends
A chance to share old memories and play our songs again
When I got to the garden party, they all knew my name
No one recognized me, I didn’t look the same”

Well with apologies to Ricky Nelson’s 1972 hit, but it reminded me of the glorious BBQ we had last Tuesday at Kooyong to mark the “opening” of our club to face to face meetings.  Thanks to the Kooyong staff, Lynette Spencer and John Hudson, we were treated to a feast and the “Sun Gods” were at their best to provide a balmy sunset occasion.  We actually did recognize most of us present.  Maybe my extra COVID kg showed me up.

It was it really was such a night!
PP John Hudson prepares to dive in while Eril Hudson and Trish Ritman dare him to do it

It really was 'Such a Night', with apologies to Elvis, as the Rotary Club of Glenferrie came out of Covid hibernation to meet for the first time in person since March 2020. Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club did a wonderful job with the catering, the set-up and the very warm welcome for a wonderful 'BBQ on the Terrace'. Thank you to Kooyong LTC, and organisers John Hudson and Lynette Spencer for a wonderful, warm summer welcome back!

Club Meeting Tuesday 16th February
You guessed it. Due to the announcement by the Victorian Government, it's back to barracks for a few days, meaning that we are unable to have our club meeting next week in person. How quickly things change.

However the good news is that we will still meet, the topic will be the same, and the cost will be even lower. Correct - we will meet via Zoom just for old time's sake.

So here are your Zoom details for next Tuesday's meeting. More good news: No need to register either! Looking forward to seeing you online, on time, on Tuesday!

Rotary Glenferrie is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

LOL
People think "icy" is the easiest word to spell. Come to think of it, I see why.

My teachers told me I'd never amount to much because I procrastinate so much. I told them, "Just you wait!"

Comic Sans walks into a bar. The bartender says, "We don't serve your type here."

A grasshopper sits down at a bar. The bartender says, "We have a drink named after you!" The grasshopper replies, "Who names a drink 'Steve?'"

What's a balloon's least favorite type of music? Pop.

What is RORP and how does it affect Rotary Glenferrie?
What is RORP and how does it affect Rotary Glenferrie?

The Rotary Club of Glenferrie, under the leadership of International Service Director Mark Howlett, will commence a new project in 2021 as a member of the Rotary Overseas Recycled Playgrounds Program (RORP). Peter Cribb is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Flemington Kensington, but he is much more than that. Peter has established a number of significant projects and programs in Rotary and he is the founder of RORP. Under RORP the club will harvest playgrounds in Boroondara and ship them via Rotary Donations in Kind to villages in Sri Lanka and other developing nations, where they will start a new life bringing joy to a new generation of children. Come along and here how, why and when you can help at the club meeting on February 16th 2021 - Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club.
