Well with apologies to Ricky Nelson’s 1972 hit, but it reminded me of the glorious BBQ we had last Tuesday at Kooyong to mark the “opening” of our club to face to face meetings. Thanks to the Kooyong staff, Lynette Spencer and John Hudson, we were treated to a feast and the “Sun Gods” were at their best to provide a balmy sunset occasion. We actually did recognize most of us present. Maybe my extra COVID kg showed me up.
Some like Gary had flowing hair and others like Ian and Heather were so slender that I had to take panoramic mode off my camera to take a photo!!! Richard Blakeman was splendid in his “bad man” shirt. Thanks to all the partners who dared to venture out with us. It was really a great gathering of the Glenferrie Rotary clan, and a good marker of our enthusiasm to meet in fellowship.Back to serious issues – 
Board Meeting - The Board met on last Monday night 8th February. Really nothing new to report. Please note that there are new arrangements coming to Kooyong Tennis Club, particularly that you must book in advance. This may be a good idea to adapt in the future and we will be guided by John Hudson and the club director team as to how this will unfold. You must read the Bulletin to keep up to date. That means the cashier will be out of work, but new jobs may come up for member duties.
International Project – Mark Howlett is asking for volunteers to assist dismantling play equipment destined for overseas playgrounds in Sri Lanka, Nepal etc. Next Tuesday’s talk will be centred around this project. (Rotary Overseas Recycled Playgrounds – RORP). It is not heavy lifting but more organisational.
Clean Up Australia – Our community project will require volunteers to clean Patterson’s Reserve. Alex Marshall is organised for a fortnight after the official date.
So, there you have it gang! Everyone likes a hand on project and Glenferrie Rotary is handling 2 projects on a plate for you. Details coming out regularly in our Bulletin.
Unfortunately, I was looking forward to a face to face encounter of the "strange" kind since I am not used to it. However another zoom meeting doesn't hurt anyone really. There should be emails to assist us coming out shortly.
