Responsive, adaptable, innovative, embracing change.....these words spring to mind following our Zoom meeting last Tuesday evening. Whilst the current limitations on our meetings and some events is disappointing, zoom meetings are one of the ways we can remain connected. It was so pleasing to see members, partners, friends and potential new members embracing this new way of meeting and we welcome your feedback as we look at how we can further exploit and understand the platform to make the experience even better.
The club's first meeting via ZOOM last Tuesday enjoyed the biggest turnout for the year, when thirty-eight Rotarians, partners and guests logged in to share the latest club news and hear a presentation from Natasza Letowt-Vorbek from the City of Boroondara. Natasza, who is the Coordinator Waste Contracts and Projects at the City of Boroondara, explained the key objectives behind the City's FOGO program, and what residents can expect over the coming weeks.
The transition of the club's administration and communication functions from Streamscape to ClubRunner is now complete as evidenced by this, the first club Bulletin from the new software. ClubRunner is fully integrated with the Rotary District 9800 website and with My Rotary.
April is Rotary International Maternal and Child Health Month and, to mark the occasion, the next club meeting on Tuesday April 21st via ZOOM will feature Dianne Sides, President of the Boroondara Family Network. The Boroondara Family Network, founded by The Rotary Club of Glenferrie in 2000, provides assistance to young families in the City, particularly where young mothers do not have family support.
The Farmers Market for April has been cancelled after a decision by the City of Boroondara to suspend operations in the interests of public health. We are hopeful that the market will resume in the near future, but the exact date of resumption is uncertain at this time. Keep an eye on The Glenferrie Rotarian and the website for regular updates.
As mentioned in my email on Sunday night our Club decided that we should follow Government policy and not allow any member over 70 to volunteer for our Bread Run.
I am pleased to report that the response from our younger members has been very good and we now have 16 volunteers. Click on the 'Read more' link to see the new roster for the next eight weeks. For those who have already volunteered, your shifts will appear on the 'Commitments' tab on your Member Profile on the new club website.
