Members who have read my recent email will have seen that there is a lot going on at district level this month. Your input or suggestions for the regional council elections and for the community group structure are welcome and should be sent to Secretary Geoff Widmer.
 
Thanks to all the members who have as usual volunteered for one or more of our community programs.

Retirement from Education CHANCES  - Helen Worladge OAM

The club would like to congratulate Helen Worladge OAM on the immense contribution she has made as the Programs Manager at Education CHANCES. Through the Glenferrie Rotary clubs' efforts at the Boroondara Farmers market, we are a significant contributor to this program.

To ensure the smooth and effective continuation of this vital program, the Board of Education CHANCES Foundation is seeking a candidate to fill the role as General Manager Operations and Programs. If anyone is interested, the position description will be outlined in next week's bulletin.

Club Meeting Report 10th October - Speaker Fiona Redding

The Speaker at our Rotary Meeting on the 10th of October was Fiona Redding, whose topic was about finding happiness in life.
 
Fiona explained that her business, “The Happiness Hunter” arose out of her own personal struggles in life. For the previous ten years Fiona was not in a good space. She had two young children, was divorced, overweight and admitted to drinking too much. She realised that this was not a good way to live and decided to turn her life around. Fiona achieved positive life changes on her own, and then decided to create a business by helping others to change their lives for the better, and to find happiness as a result.

RIMERN Update

The development of RIMERN during the past 2 years has been remarkable and a tribute to all involved, particularly Susie Cole. A number of Glenferrie members visited last week. To further raise RIMERN’s profile our Board has suggested that we visit the Warehouse in Brunswick East in place of our usual weekly meeting on 21/11/2023. Plans for the visit are still in evolution, but a presentation from Susie Cole together with light refreshments at the warehouse, followed by dinner elsewhere, will be arranged. Final arrangements will be outlined during the next 2-3 weeks.

Kevin's personal story as a bereaved father of Stephen, who tragically passed away in 2001, lends a profound depth to his work. When he's not engaging in his passions like lawn bowls, cycling, or enjoying films with the Croydon Film Society, Kevin dedicates his time to The Compassionate Friends Victoria.

This non-profit organization plays a vital role in providing solace and guidance to bereaved parents, siblings, and grandparents. For Kevin, TCFV holds a special place in his heart, having been a source of comfort during his own grieving process. Please join us in this engaging conversation about the profound impact of TCFV's important work.
