President's Message
We are coming to the end of the calendar year, although not the Rotary Year. From a personal viewpoint, my Presidency is almost half over. Hopefully the Club is still in as good a shape as when I took over. Our Sierra Leone project is pretty well done and dusted. An amazing achievement for all involved including Isaiah Lahai, Amelia Anderson, Richard Blakeman, Don Moore, Geoff Widmer, Paul Shekleton and Charles Tran.  I suspect that there may be more Sierra Leone projects in the future.

Our other major projects continue unabated, and we have the Boroondara Christmas Farmers Market this coming Saturday morning. Please attend and support your fellow Rotarians.

Our next official Rotary function will be on the 28 January 2025,  being our traditional BBQ at the Yarra Bank Reserve Playground, near our R100 project. Rod Smith will be sending out the invitation in the near future.

Finally, this time of year is above all about families and celebrating the good things in our life. I hope you can all get together with your loved ones to celebrate Christmas and New Year. Until next time, best wishes.
Rotary Glenferrie Christmas Party kicks off a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
It was time for song and merriment, and merriment there was Tuesday evening at the Rotary Club of Glenferrie Christmas Party 2024. Revellers gave full voice to familiar Christmas carols at the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club, and demolished an excellent Christmas Dinner prepared by the expert Kooyong chefs. Santa made an appearance, making his usual merry speech loaded with serial innuendo. He will be staying in Melbourne until Saturday when he will make an appearance at the Boroondara Christmas Farmers Market in his popular chariot, delighting children and startling small animals. Happy Christmas Santa. Happy Christmas everyone!

Buedu Celebrates New Latrines at the Aladura Primary School
The villagers and children of Buedu, Sierra Leone, have celebrated the handover of their new VIP latrines with a colourful march through the village and a ceremony at the Aladura Primary School.

The two toilet blocks are a gift to the children of Buedu from the Rotary Club of Glenferrie, CLUB 26021 ROTARY CLUB OF BO , Sierra Leone, and The Rotary Foundation. As part of the celebrations, each child was given a tee-shirt bearing a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene message (with thanks to the Government of Victoria and Scottish Health), and will be given two pairs of underwear each. WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) training for the children will commence after the Christmas/New Year break.
The project has been financed through proceeds from the sale of LightWalker walking sticks, a grant from The Rotary Foundation and money raised through the Boroondara Farmers Market.

Until we meet again....
We are off on holidays now, but we will be back in 2025. The next meeting of The Rotary Club of Glenferrie will be a picnic and bbq at the Yarra bank Reserve in Hawthorn, site of the Rotary 100 playground, on Tuesday evening, January 28th 2025. See you there!!!
