It is with immense gratitude and humility that I accept the role of the new Governor of District 9800. My experiences with Rotary have been nothing short of magical. Growing up with dreams of being a singer, I eventually became an IT project manager and was introduced to Rotary by Stephen Lake (RC Melbourne). Initially hesitant and intimidated, I found my place thanks to the unwavering support of mentors like John Meehan and PDG Neville John. At Rotary Central Melbourne Sunrise (RCCMS), I struggled to find my fit until I became the Youth Chair, aligning my passion for youth engagement with Rotary’s mission.
Despite facing personal challenges and stepping away from Rotary, the Family of Rotary’s constant care and love brought me back. As the Artistic Director for DG Neville John’s Conference, I combined my singing and leadership skills to contribute meaningfully, discovering the true magic of Rotary where diverse talents create extraordinary impact.
These experiences have shaped my vision for the coming year, guided by our theme, "The Magic of Rotary." The Family of Rotary has shown me the importance of creating an irresistible membership experience by aligning our purpose, our "ikigai," with Rotary’s mission.
Just as I found my passion within Rotary, we must ensure every member feels valued and engaged. Healing a divided world starts with addressing internal divides within our clubs, fostering greater collaboration through the new Rotary Community Groups. Embracing youth as the "Now" is crucial, as their energy and ideas are vital to our future. Let’s trust our leaders, promote mentorship, and play the long game for sustainable growth. By sharing our unique skills and vocations, we can create a sense of belonging, engagement, and empowerment. Together, let’s embrace the magic of Rotary -- creating, healing, and empowering to make a lasting impact on our communities.
