Glenferrie Rotarians are invited to join fellow Rotarians from Brighton North on a weekend away in Bairnsdale on 19th March 2021.

Easy, let me tell you how.
The basic itinerary is as follows but will be updated closer to date:
Friday 19 March
Travel to Bairnsdale.  This is about a three and a half to four-hour drive.  I would suggest that those who feel uncomfortable in driving to Bairnsdale contact me direct and we will work out some car-pooling. The other option is that some of you may wish to travel to Bairnsdale by train.  Takes 3h 45m and costs $35-$40, or seniors may want to use their annual free train pass.  I will arrange for pick up at the station in Bairnsdale or it is a 5 minute Taxi ride.
Golfers competing in the Club Brearley/Turner trophy can stop of at South Pines Golf Course for there first round of golf.  Other golfers (those who do not have an official handicap) not competing in the competition are also welcome to have a round.  The South Pines course is around 10km west of Bairnsdale and is operated by a community association and managed entirely by volunteers.  Green fees are $20 for eighteen holes.  Suggested hit off times 11.00 to Noon.  More details to follow.
Saturday 20 March
Competition Golfers will travel to the Bairnsdale Golf Club for a round of golf.  Suggested hit off time 8am to 9am.  I have been in contact with the club, they have a competition on Saturday morning but we are most welcome to hit off before, join in or hit off afterwards.  The green fees are $39 for eighteen holes.
For non-golfers there is plenty to see and do around Bairnsdale and I will get a list of options to you prior to this weekend.
After lunch at around 2pm we will meet at the Motel and travel to Sarsfield where we can inspect the fire damage and we will be able to see and talk about the proposed extension and modification to the Community Hall.
Then we return to the Motel for dinner that night where we have some local dignitaries join us.
Sunday 21 March
A leisurely Sunday morning with options of sightseeing around Bairnsdale or perhaps a cruise on the Lakes under the command of Captain Roy Bird.  More details to follow.
After lunch we will attend the horse races at the Bairnsdale Racecourse.  This will be a day to remember.  More details to follow.
Monday 22 March
Return home.  The most important item in all this is accommodation.  Our preferred option is the Bairnsdale International.  It is far easier to control a group (particularly Rotarians) if we stay together. As I said last night the Bairnsdale International is owned and operated by Tom and Madlen who are members of the Bairnsdale Sunrise RC and are extremely generous hosts.

It recommended that you book your accommodation ASAP and advise Peter Killey at Brighton North that you have booked so he can keep a log of who is attending.
Do not forget Dan’s bonus of a $200 rebate on your accommodation, I will remind you about that as we get closer to the registration date.
