For those of us involved in RORP (Rotary Overseas Recycled Playgrounds) over the last four years, Bob Allardice from the Rotary Club of Nunawading died on the 11th June 2025 after a long battle with cancer.

Along with Peter Cribb (Rotary Club of Flemington Kensington) they had the vision to start RORP. Bob was the heart and soul of RORP and its convenor in Victoria for all districts.

This recycled playground, installed  at the Belola School in Timor Leste, was dismantled by Rotarians in Australia and reinstalled by Rotarians in Timor Leste

Rotarian the Late Bob Allardice PHF, RC Nunawading, was a driving force behind RORP

Through his endeavours, he created a significant community project that gave joy to children in the Indo-Pacific regions by creating a logistics system that identified playgrounds to be discarded playgrounds from local councils in D9800, recycled and transported them to Indo- Pacific regions. Our community desires to repurpose these discarded playgrounds and not put them in landfill, was also enthusiastically embraced.

He did this with a spirit of generosity, precise planning and organisation and unfailing politeness, notwithstanding his deteriorating health, to all that helped him in this key Rotary endeavour; the spirit of Rotary.

The Rotary Club of Glenferrie extends it sympathies to his widow, Coral, his family and the Rotary Club of Nunawading.

Vale Bob Allardice, a RORP hero.
