In the leadup to the club's 50th Annversary Dinner, we reflect on episodes from the club's past. In the club bulletin Vol. 13 No. 1, dated July 21st 1987, new Club President Ian Dobson expressed the hope that everyone would enjoy themselves during his year of office. President Ian impressed upon members that having fun should be an important part of the Rotary experience. Rotary Foundation Global Scholar Bill Thro from Kentucky USA reported that “lady Rotarians in America” are becoming quite common, unlike in Australia. Past presidents Bruce Gough and Llew Jones, both having recently retired, provided the meeting with cogent advice about how to live a productive and rewarding life in retirement. And John Keogh explained what Vocational Service is all about.
