There's no doubt that Covid-19 is playing havoc with the best laid plans, and our Grand Opening and Family Fun Day event at the Yarra Bank Reserve playground has not been exempt. The organising committee, comprising representatives from all six Boroondara clubs involved with this gala event, met via Zoom last Friday to take stock after the latest announcements from the Victorian Government. For the third time this year a new date has been set for the event. Third time lucky!
The good news is that the Committee resolved to do everything possible to make sure our flagship Centenary of Rotary Down Under project takes place in our centenary year, 2021. Accordingly the new date for the Family Fun Day is Sunday November 21st, 2021 12 noon to 3pm featuring all the planned attractions, flags, music, food and drink, celebrities, fun and frivolity to delight children and their lockdown frazzled parents, all of whom will be more than ready for an afternoon in the sun. By that time there is a very good chance that we will finally be emerging from Lockdown Year into a late spring filled with sunshine.
