The Foresight Sumba Eye Program Australian team has just arrived back in Australia after a successful eye camp conducted in collaboration with South Perdami, UNHAS - The university of Hasanuddin, South Sulawesi, Sumba Foundation and staff of the Central Tengah Hospital in Central Sumba.

In the week the Indonesian surgical team completed over 110 cataract and some pterygium surgeries with our ECN Sr Sany, whom we sent to Makassar for training, assisting.

The screening team consisting of our ECNs Nefry, Elsie and Jolvin as well as the Australian Optometrists Peters Stewart and Lewis and Janine Hobson screened over 1,500 cases with over 900 glasses dispensed.

Our General Manager of Foresight Remy with Dr Adelina from UNHAS, were busy speaking to various directors to ascertain the eventual goal of setting up and maintaining an eye clinic in Sumba. There is an obvious need for eye care for the people of Sumba. We plan a repeat trip in September. Please remember to direct your donations to the Foresight Sumba Eye Program, having left that other NGO a couple of years ago. This program is partially funded by the Rotary Club of Glenferrie and Kew.
