The Weather Bureau rarely gets it wrong but fortunately on June 20th it did. With a very high likely percentage of rain forecast we were pleased that the morning turned out to be both dry and sunny. The Market was run under the set COVID-19 Safety Requirements. There were 51 Stalls of fresh produce including beef, fruit and vegetables, bread, biscuits, cakes, pastries, fish and once again, oysters. Green Eggs returned so we had eggs that were not available on May 30th.
Some 18 Stallholders did not attend this Market due to a variety of reasons. These included seasonality of their produce, staffing issues, inability to offer tastings, illness and commitment to other Markets. One not attending was concerned about the dire weather forecast!!

We were fortunate therefore to have 5 Stallholders attending for the first time. They were Freeland Pork, Schulz Organic Milk, Aussie Farms (poultry and turkeys), Sunny Organic (spreads) and The Fresh Fish Lady.

A blitz was carried out on the correct weighting of Marquees and A-Frame signs. This followed detailed written communication following the May 30th Market to specific Stallholders who were not complying. Again detailed written requirements were sent out to all Stallholders attending prior to this last Saturday 20th June Market. The majority of Stallholders had done the right thing, one even buying new weights. Some however had not and they were spoken to politely but firmly by Robert Winspear and I. Those Stallholders were told to take their marquees down and to either weigh down their A-Frame signs or fold them up and put them away. Both in writing and verbally Stallholders were advised that tent pegs were not acceptable. On Sunday 21st June the detailed requirements were sent out to all Boroondara Market Stallholders on our database irrespective of whether they have attended recently.

We appreciated the following Rotary volunteers. Robert Winspear was there early as always to usher the first Stallholders to their sites. Thank you to first time Captain of the Early Shift Matt Fitton and his team, Wayne Worladge, David Fallick and Peter Harries Thank you to Denbigh Richards for once again coming down to help. Thank you also to the Captain of the Late Shift Cheryl Pisterman, our new Member Kennath (yes, that is the spelling) George, Rod Smith, Rob Hogan and also David Pisterman. Not rostered but turning up to help were Tim Gale (who helped to sterilise tables), Ted Baillieu and Mitzi Pomenta. Thank you all once again.

Farmers’ Market Treasurer John Suriano thank you not only for initially sending out the Invoices followed by reminders but coming down to the Market twice, once for the fee collections and then returning to pick up the coins for banking after the Market closed.

Attendance was Stallholders 51, Customers 1,083
