It is now almost 2 years since Glenferrie Rotary made the decision to support and sponsor the Vo Thanh district of Vietnam as part of the wider Rotary established Vietnam Communities Support (VCS) program, chaired by Rowan McClean. Unfortunately, the opportunities for support and certainly any visiting has been limited by COVID but the need undoubtedly remains.
We have supported the community in many ways. The most recent project the VCS is undertaking is the arranging for the sponsoring of children with the particular objective of allowing them to attend school. Currently over 40 kids receive such sponsorship.
Rotary Glenferrie has been advised that there are presently 3 children in particular who need such sponsorship (these 3 do not have parents so must work in fields for food and living) and we are all invited to sponsor one of these children.

It takes only $520 a year to provide them with all the food, supplies, clothes and school books they need. It gives them a real
chance to make something of themselves. Two are in year 3 and one is in Year 1 at Vo Thanh High School. Sponsors are asked to commit to continuing the sponsorship to the conclusion of secondary school. As it is an established Rotary program, administration costs are virtually nil and a tokens system has been developed to ensure the money is only used for food, books etc.
