On Tuesday 9th of May, Dr Suresh Marcandan the Chair for Australia Rotary Health District 9800, came to visit the Rotary Club of Glenferrie to talk about the program and thank the club for its continual support.

Suresh gave a brief history of the ARH organisation and explained what it has achieved so far. Suresh said Australian Rotary Health is one of the largest independent funders of mental health research within Australia. Australian Rotary Health provides funding towards research grants, fellowships and PhD scholarships, focused on finding preventative and curative solutions for mental illness in young Australians. From 2023, our funding focus will narrow to the mental health of children aged 0-12.

Suresh Marcandan, Chair for ARH District 9800,
after his presentation awarded Charles Tran
his certificate of appreciation and named him a Companion of Rotary Health
The organisation also provides funding in a broad range of general health areas, provides scholarships for rural medical and nursing students, as well as Indigenous health students. Australian Rotary Health provides funding into areas of health that do not readily attract funding and promotes its findings to the community. Australian Rotary Health is a project of the Rotary Districts of Australia and is supported by Rotary Clubs. ARH has a broad vision to improve the health and wellbeing of all Australians.

The Rotary Club of Glenferrie has been a strong supporter in Australia Rotary Health and has contributed financial support from members personal contribution and club fundraising events such as weekly speakers’ program, Lift the Lid Hat Day and recently Lift the Lid Golf Day.

Suresh thanked the club for its continual financial support and recognised PP Charles Tran for his ongoing support financially to Australian Rotary Health for many years and presented him with the certificate of appreciation and he was named a Companion of Australian Rotary Health.
