The club's project to build two toilet blocks at the Aladura Primary School in Buedu, Sierra Leone is progressing rapidly, and has now moved in the second phase, the construction of the toilet block buildings. The construction of the two latrine pits is complete, and both pits have been covered with a reinforced cement slab over which the toilet buildings are being constructed. Work is being financed by the Rotary Club of Glenferrie through funds raised through the Boroondara Farmers Market, the sale of LightWalker walking sticks and other specific fundraisers, with the assistance of a District International Grant from The Rotary Foundation.
The first block being built is the male toilet block, consisting of five toilet stalls, one dedicated for staff, plus a sixth urinal stall with three wall-mounted urinals. A temporary wall will isolate two of the stalls as dedicated female toilets until the second block is complete. |
