The Rotary Club of Glenferrie was recognised at the District 9800 Changeover event on July 5th with a District International Service Award for the successful completion of the WASH project in Sierra Leone. In partnership with the Rotary Club of Bo, Sierra Leone, the project built two Ventilated Improved Pit (VIP) latrines and installed two 2,000 litre rainwater tanks at the Aladura Primary School in the village of Buedu, on the eastern border of the country. The project also provided a fully documented WASH program which has been adopted by the school, along with the Rotary designed ‘Hygiene Club’.

Incoming Club President Helena Wimpole accepted the award on behalf of the club from outgoing District Governor Michael Lapiña.
