Subject: Rotary Community Leader - current status
I am writing to advise that at the close of call for Expressions of Interest for the position of Rotary Community Leader, no EOI had been received for Rotary Community Groups 1 and 2.
Appointments have been made for RCGs 3,4 & 5 and these will be notified in due course.
In accordance with the determined process resulting from no EOI for your RCG, I have been directed to contact club Presidents asking for a volunteer to fill the role for one year, with an option to do two. In this scenario the volunteer becomes the RCL with all responsibilities and privileges, including the training and option to stand for Rotary Communities Nominee.
If no volunteer is forthcoming, I will then ask an existing district leader, who meets the criteria and is willing, to fill the role for one year. It is preferable that the district leader comes from a club in the RCG, though this cannot be mandated. In this scenario the district leader becomes the RCL with all responsibilities and privileges, including the training and option to stand for Rotary Communities Nominee. The RCL selected this way would encourage the clubs to put forward a nomination for an election to be held at a later date.
In the event neither of these approaches work, an appointee from the Regional Council will chair the first meeting of the RCG and ask them to elect a leader at that meeting.

If none of these approaches work, the clubs will be encouraged by a representative of the Regional Council to work together on a growth plan until such time as someone feels comfortable in standing as RCL.
As a consequence of the process detailed above, I ask that you advise your members of this information. Opportunity for volunteers to nominate will be open until COB Thursday, 18 April and should be notified directly to me at ron.payne@rotary9800.org
Kind regards
Ron Payne
