The Rotary Club of Glenferrie has been awarded a District 9800 EnviroClub Bronze Award at the Horsham Conference, recognising its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. The award acknowledges both the formation of an Environment Committee and a wide range of local and international initiatives. From community clean-ups to sustainable WASH projects in Sierra Leone, the Club continues to turn practical action into lasting impact. It’s a strong first step in the EnviroClub journey.

There was a proud moment for the Rotary Club of Glenferrie at the recent District Conference in Horsham, with the Club receiving a District 9800 EnviroClub Bronze Award.

The EnviroClub Awards recognise clubs that are rolling up their sleeves and getting on with practical environmental action. It’s a progressive program. Bronze is the first step on the path to Silver and Gold. But it’s no small achievement.

RORP is an investment in both youth and the environment

Our award reflects both the establishment of a dedicated Environment Committee and a long track record of “quiet achiever” projects that have been making a difference over many years. From Clean Up Australia campaigns and soft plastics recycling, to supporting recycled playgrounds overseas and contributing through DIK and RIMERN, the Club has built an impressive portfolio of activity.

the best possible way. Further afield, our work in Sierra Leone has included solar installations and water tanks, helping communities build more sustainable futures. Add to that a steady stream of engaging guest speakers at club meetings, and it’s clear the environment is firmly on our agenda.

Of course, there’s no shortage of environmental challenges in the world today. But rather than being overwhelmed, this recognition is a reminder that practical, consistent action, often starting small, can add up to something meaningful. Protecting the environment is not a choice, it’s a shared responsibility and our choices today will define the world of tomorrow.

Bronze may be the first step, but it’s a strong one. And a great foundation for what comes next.
