The new Regionalisation program commences 1 July 2024. It's aim is to revitalise Rotary and stop the negative trend in Rotary membership.
Main features:
- Zone 8 which includes Australia NZ PNG and other Pacific nations, is now controlled by an elected Regional Council. Below the Council there are various appointed experts who will have Zone wide responsibility for areas such as Membership.
- The districts are semi abolished. "On paper” the sole remaining role for District Governors is Foundation. However, at present our District is continuing as it always did, and we have DGs appointed for 2024/25 and the next two years after that.
- AGs have vanished. We are no longer formally in a cluster with Hawthorn and Kew but in a Community Group with 13 other clubs. Our CG will be led by Community Leader Michael Stillwell who is about to undergo his training.

Effect on day-to-day Club operations
My view, which may prove hopelessly wrong is that the members will notice little or no difference at Club level, unless we get involved in a scheme promoted by the Council. All Clubs are still autonomous and self-governing. Hopefully the scheme will lead to increased membership and awareness of Rotary. Time will tell as always.
