August is Rotary Membership Month, which means it's time to celebrate our Rotary club, our members, and the good we do in our community and worldwide. In the first Membership Month of the post-pandemic era, Rotary Glenferrie must continue to create a welcoming experience of comfort and care for its members and build an inclusive, diverse, equitable and enjoyable culture. We are a thriving and vibrant club, with our member growth from 44 in 2017 to 64 today. However, I don’t believe there’s a secret formula to make the club successful: club members need to take every opportunity to continue the growth of their club. When we celebrate Membership Month, we enjoy the club's legacy from the past. Most importantly, we need to listen to what our members want out of their Rotary involvement, understand their needs and expectations, and build a welcoming club experience for all members, both the “newbies” and the longer-term members.
We celebrated Membership Month at our 16 August meeting by inducting three new members. It was a pleasure and privilege to induct Lindy Joubert, Colin George and Anita Morkans into the family of Rotary Glenferrie. Welcome to all of you. With the help of your mentors and other club members, we know that you'll find 'Inspiration in Service' and 'Enjoyment in the Fellowship' at Glenferrie and the worldwide Rotary movement. Michael Berry accepted the honorary membership offer and was inducted at a special club meeting on 9 August. Thank you to Ken and Anne Scott, Trevor and Brenda Mackey, Ian Willmott and Norm Fary for attending this particular meeting: always so good to see your faces at a meeting.

My Rotary Learning Centre- There're lots of courses available for our members through the My Rotary Learning Center. You can develop your leadership skills with professional development courses and take the Creating an Inclusive Club Culture course to discover ways to become more inclusive, diverse, and equitable. Remember that you’ll need a My Rotary account for any Learning Center course. Find more membership resources on My Rotary.

President’s second call on Regionalisation Pilot-Rotary Zone 8, which includes Australia, New Zealand, and several Pacific Island nations, was approved by the Rotary International Board as one of two regions to pilot a regional approach to governance. This project aims to provide better and more direct support to the Rotary and Rotaract clubs through a less layered and more devolved contemporary approach. Our club will have Peter Frueh, the co-chair of Regionalisation Pilot, make an informative presentation on the pilot at the club meeting on Tuesday 30 August. Fellow Rotarians, please come along, and have an open and robust discussion about which way Rotary Glenferrie would like to vote for the pilot.
