Dear Members,
The President's message this week is from Thelma (on the way out) and Mark (on the way into the role).
Outgoing and Incoming President
We made history on Tuesday night with our Zoom Changeover - thank you for being with us. There has been some fabulous feedback on the quality of the content, technical expertise, and the attire of our new incoming President (captured on camera and published in this edition).......
Thank you to "Houston Control" otherwise known as Richard Blakeman for your amazing efforts and for putting together a great night. Congratulations to Don Heath and Richard Blakeman on their well deserved Paul Harris Fellow Recognitions. Rotary is about service above oneself but sometimes remarkable people have to be recognised and rewarded. Congratulations to Michael Hills for 10 years of Rotary service, to Don Heath and Ian Salek for 15 years.
Incoming President
I am looking forward to a good year, a centennial year, and an emergency out of the COVID gloom. We are waiting for Kooyong Tennis Club to work out when we can meet there. So for now Zooming will be the meeting format for the near future. I look forward to our newbies on the Board. This next step into assisting the running of the club and the implementation of the areas of service should be rewarding for those who participate. I hope to have the budget set out soon. Thanks to the Farmers Market getting back in action, our club should survive well.
My thoughts to Ian Willmott, who is presently in hospital unwell. Fran and himself missed the changeover due to his ill health. I believe he is doing well and the club has sent well wishes to him.
Looking forward to our first meeting in July. By then we should have the results of the Strategic Action Group's findings.
Strategic Planning Session - 23 June 2020 meeting
Warwick Cavell will facilitate our second zoom interactive planning session on Tuesday night. This is your opportunity as a valued member to influence and shape the Club, both now and into the future. Warwick has put forward three questions for you to consider before the meeting - these are detailed in a separate article in this bulletin. We will use the chat facility as well as zoom unmute to ensure everyone can contribute and that all feedback is recorded. Do join us for an important session.
District Changeover - Saturday 27 June 2020 at 1.00 pm via Zoom.
The District Changeover showcases Rotary at another level and provides insight into the broad range of successful activities undertaken by clubs in D9800 throughout the year. District Governor Grant Hocking will be formally inducting District Governor Elect Philip Archer for the 2020/2021 year. Your attendance is encouraged. See the article below for booking details.
Potential new members for Glenferrie
Prior to COVID-19 lockdown we enjoyed meeting seven potential new members at our Kooyong dinner meetings in Feb and March. We have kept in contact through our bulletins and by telephone quite recently and most retain an interest in the Club and will meet with us again once we are able to return to Kooyong. We have also had two enquiries through our website and have zoomed with one person and will be following up with the second this week.
Our warmest regards,
Outgoing Thelma and Incoming President Mark
