Rotary Monthly Theme is actually Disease Prevention and Treatment
How appropriate – We have been deeply involved in disease prevention and luckily no need for treatment!!
It has been as quiet week for my Rotary commitments. The AGM has been had and there was no General Meeting last week. Lots of issues however are rolling along in the background. It seems there is never stagnation in a Rotarian’s life. Recently, we had our first Riverside cluster meeting of the Presidents and our illustrious AG Sandi Fulcher in Victoria Park. It was lovely to not meet on zoom as the lockdown rules ease. We spent most of the time in idle gossip. Something that just doesn’t happen electronically! Tonight, the Board meets face to face. I am sure there will be no “Idle gossip”, since we will be getting down to the grand business of running our club!
Alas, Kooyong hasn’t opened its doors to us as yet, so we meet tomorrow night on Zoom. Please attend for what is our last general meeting for the year. I anticipate that we will recommence meetings in February, but we will have to wait for further relaxation of the rules
That leads me into our last major event for this year – The Christmas Get Together – Please see the advertisement in the bulletin. I have been waiting to see what Dan will allow, but it is apparent that we can meet in greater numbers in the open. On Tuesday night Dec 15th as a low key event, I am proposing we have a picnic in the Yarra Park Reserve, where we are planning the 100 year Rotary Project. If we can all bring a picnic complete with food, beverages of various kinds and chairs. There are BBQs there to cook if you wish. This event will only work if you all turn up even for an hour or so. I will have to come from work so I would appreciate if people that get there early could secure the BBQ and tables.So, what issues do you need to be aware of?
- Australia Day Rotary Celebrations – The Super Cluster has received the $20,000 grant from the Australia Day Council
to run this event. It is to be staged in Victoria Park. Thanks to David Fallick for representing our club. He will need volunteers on the day, so please watch those emails. There will be entertainment and food stalls. I anticipate that we can erect a Glenferrie Marquee as well to make a presence.
- Farmer’s Market – Dec 19th.
Please come. Thanks very much for Rob Hogan putting his hand up to run the BBQ. Thanks for the volunteers for signing onto the roster. I for one will be in the cooking section. I will leave it up to the servers whether they put the onions on first.

Salek has plenty to sell at the market. This assists our funds, which have been quiet depleted this year. A very big thanks for Ian Dobson procuring his as Christmas gifts for his business.
