And in the evening After the fire and the light One thing is certain: Nothing can hold back the light. Time is relentless And as the past disappears We're on the verge of all things new.
Well, I am certain it is getting brighter for all of us as the donuts string-out to 2 weeks of no new cases. I have started the new PE training recently diligently getting prepared for another term as leader. I was most impressed with out new District Governor Elect, Dale Hoy, from the Rotary Club of Brighton. His guidance will be essential to lead us into the light of face to face meetings next year.
I was taken by his words that COVID is not an excuse to do nothing but an avenue to rethink and rebuild our clubs. In the time off, we should be building strong foundations for our club and rethinking our approaches. We have adopted electronic social media and have had innovative sessions to engage our members. So, I expect to come out in early next year revitalised and ready to “take on the world”.
How we do this will be directed by our members. I have taken on board your Strategic Plan wishes and hope to implement a lot of you wishes in the upcoming years.
So, what has happened this week?
1. Australia Day Celebrations 
Thanks to David Fallick for taking on this task. I only had to ring him and he agreed, so in my increasing busy day, it was a blessing to have a generous of heart Glenferrie Rotarian to take up this position. We will defiantly require hands on volunteers on the day. Ian Salek is getting an Aussie trivia quiz together in his elaborate and professional style for the day. Please watch your emails and Bulletin, since the action will be in January when we traditionally had no meetings.
2. Parkinson’s walk 
Please support this. Back to back with the Polio effort but equally deserving our financial and strong walking effort. This is a devastating disease, which I often see in my practice. I sadly remember our member Terry telling me to push him whenever he froze. I and Ian Salek will remember, when we had to carry and cradle him out of the rain outside Kooyong Tennis Club when he froze and couldn’t move. For the grace of God - hopefully we are not inflicted ever with this disease.
3. AGM 
Next meeting is important that you all turn up please. No major dramas apart from me toppling Teresa Liu in the race to be PE for this year. Teresa, by the way, is happy to be PE for next year after so our club is strongly based for many years to come. I am so impressed with the club having potential leaders for years to come. Glenferrie Rotary has a great future as long as you support us.
