Theme for this month FEBURARY – Peace and conflict prevention /resolution
(January – Vocational services)

Welcome back all to a potentially busy year.

Code Brown is not a good way to start the year. Some government official has a funny sense of humour since “brown” is the colour of the proverbial hitting the fan! We must be prepared for changes in our lifestyles and how we will conduct this club. Challenges are what make life interesting, overcoming them is what makes life meaningful. (A. P. J. Abdul Kalam). So, another year of the same.

Today is a special day for me – being my birthday on this publication date, so I hope to have my feet up and enjoy growing older! Better than the alternative.

It was a lovely Christmas Party on Dec 21st. Thanks to all participating. Esp. Thelma, Roz and Janet. If the homegrown choir was acceptable, maybe we could be booked for next year??

The Leaders of Glenferrie Rotary have not been totally idle, and we have already had a Strategic Action Group meeting with Teresa Liu (PE), Mark Howlett (PN), Thelma Hutchison (PP – Not letting her go!!) and naturally myself as President and PP. We met in January to plot how the year will unfold. Also tomorrow on Feb 1st, we have our first Board Meeting for 2022. I would appreciate you emailing me if you want to add to the Board Meeting. I am working Feb 1st and the phone as per usual is on silent so I can devote my time to my patients.

Important updates -

Salvo Bread Run and Farmer’s Market Rosters – Please remember to put your name down on the roster system. I note few have volunteered for the first part of this year on the Bread run. Easy to do as an example, the Bread Run – Get your calendar out and see what Thursdays you can donate an hour of your time from 6.00 pm. Go into our website and click on “Member’s Resources” – then “Rosters” on the pull down menu. Please consider and make it easier for Alex Marshall and the Hogans, who look after the Farmer’s Market rostering.

Dinner Fees – After many years. Kooyong Tennis Club is raising its meal fee. It has been decided that from Feb 2022, our price to go to the General Meeting will be set at $42.00. Note that this will commence on Feb 8th and will go via Club Runner as per the norm.

Mental Health Golf Day – On May 24th is the inaugural Kingston Heath Golf Day set up by our member Elisabeth Dumonic with proceedings going to Rotary Mental Health. We as a club really need to get behind her and support this. At the SAG meeting it was discussed that we need more hands on assistance, in particularly to set plans and recruit both participants and volunteers to be involved on the day. Elisabeth has recruited Mercedes Benz to donate cars. This day has all the potential to be a raging success, and this depends on what we can do to help Elisabeth’s dream and work to this date.
