We had an interesting speaker at our last meeting. Sabina Andron is a Research Fellow in the School of Culture & Community, University of Melbourne. In her talk Sabina wanted to challenge our thinking of street art and graffiti. Graffiti removal was also discussed. It was an especially relevant talk, as Sabina also spoke on the recent graffiti of “Pam the Bird” that was painted on the Bolte Bridge.
The Farmers Market, “Christmas in July” was a huge success. It was a beautiful sunny day & we had up to 915 patrons & 36 stallholders. Joanne Shentu sold many Christmas cakes and puddings and there were two raffles which will be drawn at our next Club meeting. We look forward to the next Farmers Market on 15th August, which is Gardening Day.
A lunch was held on Wednesday 15th July at the Glenferrie Hotel. It was a nice day with good fellowship. We will continue these lunches once a month for the rest of the year.
Thanks to Mark Howlett we sponsored a student who attended the weeklong RYLA camp on Philip Island.
