Multi District Impact Summit
The inaugural MDIS was held 16-18 May in Adelaide. After some teething problems it was a success and over 300 delegates attended from our District 9800 and District 9510 which covers all South Australia, Northern Territory, a part of NSW and part of the corner country in Queensland. The venue was Morphettville Racecourse, and it is fair to say that the number of attendees was just right. District 9800 was well represented; there were people from all over even PNG.
Surprisingly, our Club had only one attendee, yours truly. North Balwyn for example had 17 delegates. I enjoyed the weekend but didn’t attend as many sessions as I should have as I took the opportunity to catch up with my son who lives there. I had great chats on Friday night at the cocktail event with south Australian Rotarians and fun dinners on Friday and Saturday night with 9800 people. The experiment will be repeated next year in Horsham on 27-29 March. I urge our members to go along and enjoy a different aspect of Rotary. Apparently, people are already booking accommodation.
The Rotary year is fast drawing to a close and it is time to remind you that Helena Wimpole, a valued member of the Club for many years is becoming President. I am sure that Helena and her team will do amazing things. The formal Changeover Dinner is on 24 June and is one of the highlights of the Rotary year. You will already have received your invitations so come along. Bring your partner and friends and have a great night.
Club Rules
Rotary International has mandated some changes to club rules. Your committee is going through these changes which will be submitted to the membership for discussion and comment in the next month or two. So, look out for them.
