The members are obviously the life blood of any Rotary Club. It's no secret that one of the challenges Rotary is facing is a gradual decline in membership. Attraction of new members and retention of existing members is the major focus of our membership committee, under the able leadership of Anita Morkans. They are constantly working on strategies to recruit new members and keep our current members. However, it is not just the responsibility of the committee.
There is no reason why any member cannot ask along a friend or workmate and introduce them to Rotary. Rotary is one of the best kept secrets going around and we should work at spreading the message, rather than keeping it to ourselves.

Most members will be aware of Education CHANCES Foundation, an organisation started by Rotary clubs, and which receives half of the net proceeds from the Farmers Market. ECF provides scholarships to diligent, but disadvantaged students, in the Boroondara area. Elsewhere in the Bulletin are details of an event that ECF is holding at Blue Illusion Fashion store in Burke Road Camberwell. Get along if your wardrobe needs replenishing and support ECF.

The third President's Lunch will take place at the Glenferrie Hotel on Wednesday18th September. Please let me know if you are coming. It starts at 12.30 pm. Bring your partners or friends. Any suggestions for alternate activities will be gratefully received.
