Our last meeting featured a fascinating talk by PP Mark Howlett, about his amazing motorcycle trip through India, with other Rotarians. Mark gave us an insight into an amazing country and the contrasts between wealth and poverty, as India continues its move towards being a totally modern country, as well as telling us about the great time that he had.

It also gave us an insight into the life of a “rockstar” as Mark was apparently mistaken for the Toilet warrior and instantly achieved celebrity status.

On a more mundane level I was pleased last Thursday 15th August to attend, with Community Service Director Maria Pantling, a meeting at the Boroondara Council. There were representatives from other Boroondara Rotary Clubs as well, and we discussed ways in which the Clubs and Council can assist each other. Also, we gave them an outline about what Glenferrie is doing in the community.

Don’t forget on Wednesday 21st August the second Presidents lunch at the Glenferrie Hotel at 12.30 pm. Come one come all.
